The Old Town
The best way to explore Bilbao's old town is on foot. A good place to start is the Plaza Nueva. From there, loose yourself in Bilbao's historic centre, taking in lots of tourist sights along the way without forgetting to sample the local tapas and wines. Guided tours are available and need to be booked in advance through the tourism office.

Tapas and restaurants
Pintxo (tapas) bars are an institution in Bilbao and visitors will be spoilt for choice. If you would like to splash out and sample Basque Cuisine at its best, the city also boasts fantastic restaurants.

For “New Basque Cuisine” book a table at Michelin starred Zortziko restaurant. This is also a good opportunity to visit their impressive cellar which sells some of the best wines from Rioja. www.zortziko.es.
